Stupidity - and other crimes against humanity
Having a day of it, so my first actual post is a rant - who would have thought?
We prosecute and punish those who cause "problems" for the rest of us by committing crimes as a result of some sort of, shall we say, congenital maladjustment. The kleptomaniac shoplifter, for example.
So why then do we not prosecute people for their inherent stupidity when it causes distress or difficulties to others? Outlaw stupidity, and come down hard, I say. The teller at the bank who has been too stupid to give you all the information you need on a third-party transaction, thus forcing you to go back to the third party to complete the extra form she forgot to give you in the first place, thereby delaying a deal and costing you money - even incidentals like petrol. Oh and the fact that you charge for your time by the hour as a freelancer.
Wouldn't it be great to be able to go straight to the nearest police station, lay a criminal charge, and have the moron arrested?
I guess I can dream...
